KCC Salalah (Oman)

History

Salalah- the beautiful region of Sultanate of Oman, well known for its greenery and resemblance to Kerala. To uphold the Knanaya tradition, Knanaya Catholic Congregation was formed on 5th of April 2007, with the Maundy Thursday celebrations. This congregation was started with the leadership of Mr. Josekutty John Kodikkulam along with the participation of 25 families living in Salalah.

KCC- Salalah has been working shoulder to shoulder with the Catholic Church of Salalah and other organizations like SMCA – Salalah, which has allotted a separate ward unit for the KCC. This congregation also organize charity activities alone and in association with other organizations as well.

KCC- Salalah conducts monthly prayer meetings and the Knanaya parish vicars and the Knanaya priests who have served in the parish had visited and blessed the congregation several times.

KCC Salalah had tackled many hardships but still going forward strongly. Several families have migrated to Europe and some families went back to India losing their job. Despite all these adverse situations, KCC is still going strong with 19 families.

This small organization is growing forward with the aim of celebrating the Knanaya tradition along with publishing knowledge and conviction about the Knanaya traditions and rituals to young Knanaya generation.
