KCC UAE – Journey through history
In the late 1980s, Knanayites arrived in various parts of the UAE. However, they formed family gatherings in Abu Dhabi in 1990, Dubai in 1991, and Sharjah in the 1996.
The UAE Coordination Committee was formed in 1998 to unify and bring these units together under one umbrella, designed to preserve our centuries-old heritage for future generations
Mr. Abraham Naduvathara was elected as the first Chief-Coordinator of the Committee, consisting of a President, a Secretary and two Coordinators from each unit. More units were formed by Al Ain in 2000, Ras Al Khaimah in 2001 and Fujairah in 2013.
Since 1998,KCC UAE conducted annual sangamam every year which attracted world attention. Every year these sangamams are conducted by each unit, with chief guests including our Kottayam Archeparchy Bishops and distinguished personalities around the world.
KCSL Camp for Children has been conducted every year since 2005 under the auspices of KCC UAE. In 2013, an overnight camp was held in the UAE for people between the ages of 15 and 25 who were born and raised in the Middle East. KCYL has also been active in the UAE since 2005.
The organization played a key role in the formation of the KCC Middle East in 2005 and the DKCC in 2009. The first KCC Middle East Sanagamam was held in 2005 and the third Middle East Sangamam in 2018 in the UAE. We are proud to share the first stage of Bishop Mar Joseph Pandarasseril maiden foreign trip since taking his role in 2007 with his Knanaya children in the UAE.
After Abraham Naduvathara, the tradition continued with the leadership under Abraham Raju Oril, Tomy Nedungattu, James Cherusherry, George Marikaveettil, Stephen Paradiyil, Dr. Jinoy Kavalakkal, Vincent Valiyaveettil and Joy Anali. Currently Mr. Joseph Mathew Plamparambil is the chairman serving the UAE community
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the former esteemed leaders, and office bearers who have given us the strength and motivation needed for the growth of the organization and who have given us the courage to lead us through all the crisis and maintained our culture and traditions.
With love and regards,
Joseph Mathew Plambarambil Manu Abraham Naduvathara
