Bahrain Knanaya association was first formed in September 1985. It is one of the most diligent Malayalee Association in Bahrain. At first it was formed with 6 family members of our Knanaya community and used to have monthly meetings. Then got the attention of other Knanaya members from all over Bahrain. A greater demand for giving a formal name at the beginning of early nineties and accordingly they named it as “Bahrain Knanaya Catholic Association (BKCA) ” which included members from Knanaya Catholics and elected its first President Mr. Simon Ellunkal. In 1991, committee was formed to draft a constitution for the association that belonged to the members from Kottayam Archdiocese alone under the presidency of Mr. Johnny Cherukara.

In 2005 BKCA Annual celebration was honored by His Grace Mar Mathew Moolakkatt the Archbishop of Kottayam Archdiocese. The first directory of BKCA members was published in 2008. The celebration was honored with the presence of His Lordship Mar Joseph Pandaraseril, the Auxiliary Bishop of kottayam Archdiocese visited Bahrain during the Christmas and annual celebration in 2009.

BKCA got an elected committee once every two year with President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Executive committee members including Lady Representatives. Bahrain KCYL for the youth was unofficially formed in 2015 and came to be official in the year 2021 and Bahrain lady’s wing was also formed in the year January 2021. BKCA  conducts Cultural programs, Annual sports, Knanaya history classes, competitions, charity works etc every year.

BKCA stands out as major Malayalee Christian Association in Bahrain, a symbol of the unity and cultural identity of the Knanaya Catholics.  BKCA stands out for many other youths to follow and learn more about our history. Their works and deeds have helped many people around the globe with help of hand. It was able to strengthen the bond between each and everyone in the community and formed be one family. This association has helped the new generation to follow the culture, Knanaya songs and custom since followed from AD 345. The scared church of Bahrain is a holy place where we BKCA coordinates and works with our rituals.
