The migrant life of the Knanaya members is as old as its origin. Therefore, migration is a part of their lives. It preserves a tradition passed down from generation to generation in any corner of the world and strives to pass it on to the next generation. It is because of this uniqueness that the Knanaya people stand apart from others.

Aiming at the cultural and communal upliftment of the Knanaya Catholic community in Dubai, a group of Knanaya members came together on May 2, 1991 at a meeting held at the residence of Mr. Alex Pottur. During the meeting Mr. Alex Pottur was elected as the first President, Mrs. Jomol Lukose Puthenpurayil as Secretary and Mr. Babu Thundiyil as treasurer to form the Dubai Knanaya kudumbayogam. At first, they would gather in each house and later in a church, hotel, or park due to space constraints from time to time.

The organization has always strived to unite the entire Knanaya community under one umbrella, upholding the spirit of the Church and the tradition of faith. Every year we hold extensive gatherings, art competitions, give away prizes to children who have passed 10th and 12th classes, help those who are suffering from unemployment, carry out various charitable activities and preserve our culture and heritage.

In 2001 Mar Mathew Moolakkatt and in 2003 bishop Mar Kuriakose Kunnassery and Monsignor  Kollaparambil were given reception in Dubai. Also we were proud to host the maiden foreign trip of Mar Joseph Pandarassery after becoming a bishop with Dubai Knanaya family members.

The organization was instrumental in the formation of the KCC UAE in 1998, the KCC ME in 2005 and the DKCC in 2009. KCSL, which was formed for the upliftment of children in classes 5 to 12, is now 15 years old. Camps are being conducted for them. This was followed in 2013 by the formation of KCYL for 15 to 25 year old’s born and raised in Dubai and the youth from Kerala working in Dubai. Kids club was formed for the children under the age of ten and KCWA for Women. All these groups have been providing continuous support to the activities of KCC Dubai.

We would like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to the esteemed seniors and organizers who have nurtured the organization with the necessary strength and inspiration for its growth, as well as to the former office bearers who have led us courageously in the face of adversity and crisis and nurtured us.
